Greg Mathews, 60, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on November 5, 1965, in Clarksville, Tennessee, Greg was a lifelong resident who devoted his life to his family, his land, and his community. As the owner of Mathews Farms, farming was more than his profession—it was his passion and a way of life. Greg was an integral part of the family businesses, Gary Mathews Motors and Mathews Nissan, where he worked alongside his family for many years. He took great pride in helping build and support the businesses that have served the Clarksville community for generations.
Greg found his greatest joy in the people he loved. He shared 26 wonderful years with his partner, Tess, and was a devoted father to Levi (Ashley) Mathews and Landen (McKenzie) Mathews. Nothing brought him more pride than being “Granddaddy” to his beloved grandchildren, Laci Mathews, Lakelyn Mathews, Lydia Mathews, and Lennyn Mathews. He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on at horse riding events and softball games, creating memories they will treasure forever.
When he wasn’t working on the farm, Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Whether in the fields, in the woods, or surrounded by family, he was happiest doing what he loved with the people who meant the most to him.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Gary Mathews. He is survived by his loving mother, Joyce Mathews; his sons, Levi (Ashley) Mathews and Landen (McKenzie) Mathews; his lifelong partner Tess; her son, Josh (Callie); his cherished grandchildren, Laci, Lakelyn, Lydia, and Lennyn Mathews; his sister, Shelia Yarbrough (Freddy Baggett); his niece, Lauren Yarbrough; and many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss his kind heart, steady presence, and unwavering love.
Greg’s legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply, the farm he built with pride, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity, strength, and quiet devotion. He will be remembered for his hard work, his love of the outdoors, and the unconditional love he gave to his family. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 24 at 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Sango Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Neal-Tarpley- Parchman Funeral Home, and Friday, July 24, from 12:00 PM until the hour of service, at First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Steve Sherlock, Robert Streetman, Tommy Wyatt, Larry Halliday, Ron Sleigh, John Balance, Jimmy Allen, & Terry Yarbrough.
