Johnnie Bolick, born August 8, 1942, in Catawba County to Hilma Warren Witherspoon and Lee Fox, passed away peacefully after finishing her race on earth. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother whose kindness and strength touched all who knew her. She served and gave generously to her community and family.

Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest brother, Mickey Fox. She is survived by her daughter, Lynnet Whisnant Elliott, and son-in-law, Wayne Elliott, of Davidson. She leaves behind her cherished grandson, Landon Elliott of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her sisters, Sylvia Woodlief of Lancaster, SC, Betty Caldwell of Hickory, NC, Frances Watters (Jerry) of Claremont, NC, and Libby Lytton (Eddie) of Newton, NC.

Johnnie retired from AT&T after more than 30 years of service. She worked for the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ & Exhibitors' Association and was a Marketing Director for several assisted living facilities. In her spare time, she enjoyed following the Tennessee Walking Horse shows and supporting her favorite riders, trainers, and horses. She was a fierce competitor and played in a women's tennis league, was a member of a garden club, and an active member of a women’s church group. In her youth, she and her sisters played basketball for Bandy’s High School. Johnnie's legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Her memorial service and burial will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, 1942 St. James Church Rd, Newton, NC 28658 on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the church. Pastor Ken Reed will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Johnnie’s memory to St. James Lutheran Church at the above address or to the North Carolina Walking Horse Association Scholarship Fund at 213 Lindsay Creed Lane, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
